Aqualyx - Fat Dissolve Injections

What is Aqualyx?

AQUALYX is a long-lasting injectable fat loss treatment. It uses a chemical called Deoxycholic acid, which is a derivative of the cholinic acid our bodies produce naturally to breakdown fats. It is designed to target the areas where stubborn fatty deposits occur such as under the chin, the knees, hips, thighs or under the buttocks. Aqualyx is not a weight loss solution and will not treat general body fat. It is designed for use on fat above the muscle.

How does it work?

The body has its own system in place for burning excess body weight. Acidic bile is naturally produced by the liver to aid in the process of breaking down fat. AQUALYX uses a synthetic form of this acid (deoxycholic acid) that’s derived from plant-based ingredients, so it’s safe to use in the body. It’s delivered to the fatty areas through a needle injection. The acid works to eliminate fat by breaking down the structure of the fat cells.

The number of treatments required varies depending on the size of the fatty deposit. Results can be seen from 1 session however, typically, 1-3 treatments are needed for small areas such as the jowls and under the chin, and 2-8 treatments for larger areas such as the stomach and thighs. Treatments are spaced at 4-6 weekly intervals.

What should I know before deciding on the treatment?

Whilst Aqualyx is suitable for most people, it should not be used if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. There are also some medical exclusions so full consultation including medical information will be conducted first.

The treatment itself requires multiple injections to be performed on the area. While not essential, we apply numbing before hand to ease discomfort although this will vary for everyone. You may experience some bruising or redness in the area after the treatment but this should subside in up to 72 hours.

It is usual to experience swelling in the area as this is part of how the treatment works, expanding and breaking down the fat cells. This can last up to 2 weeks. If required over the counter pain medication can be taken but it is not recommended to take ibuprofen or other anti-inflammatory medication as this can be counterproductive.
